Our Mission

 

We believe that true justice in schools prioritizes the needs of humans over the needs of systems. Restorative Practice NYC provides equity-centered training in restorative justice and mindfulness processes for individuals, schools, and community-based organizations. We believe that the dynamic relationships formed in holistic educational communities can lead to transformative, life-long learning and that with intention, schools can become sustainable, peaceable and humane spaces for everyone involved.

We advocate for story-telling as an opportunity to re-imagine and recreate our world. Beyond the traditional standards of academic achievements, Restorative Practice NYC prompts student advocates to create teaching and learning spaces where young people are able to renew themselves with the richness of their own histories and become the authors of their reality, their lives, and their future.
